THE STORY

„Take action to succeed."

Thank you for allowing me to share my story with you. My name is Sofie J. Ziethen, MS.c., and I have a very clear mission for my clients and partners:

I want to enable them to become the leader in their field, improve their performance, employee development, and through that, their quality of service.

Worldwide I am known as Action to Success Coach, ''Top 100 Leader in Education and Learning'' and CEO of Servicexcellence - Training & Development.

The idea of Servicexcellence - Training & Development was born.

My name is Sofie J. Ziethen, and I have a very clear mission for my customers and partners:

I want them and their company to become better in their performance, employee development and thereby in their service quality.

To achieve this, by acting according to a system that I designed over the past years. A proven, systematic approach to achieve excellence. 

The system and its relevance is based on hard work, dedication and real-life experience paired with academic research and a ´´personal calling for excellence´´!

My triggering moment for this was shortly after my graduation ''Master in international Hotel Management'', in one of my first management positions, which I started in 2011 in Abu Dhabi in the pre-opening phase of a hotel.

A few weeks before the opening, we were still on a construction site. Half the systems were not yet in place, processes were incomplete, and staff, people who had never met before, were neither trained nor ready to act in a five-star hotel operation and to offer service quality.

In an ideal world, we would have asked the cooks to heat up their pans and fry a few things - however, we had no gas to cook with at that point in the opening, and I was looking for other ways to share our knowledge with the new carpenters.

The problem with that:

We had basically nothing yet, neither mattresses in the rooms, nor gas in the kitchen. I knew in a few weeks the first guests would be at the door ready to check in for their dream and luxury vacation.

We, were far from being ''ready''. I had to make as a decision.

Either I fly back to Vienna and do nothing, or I follow my instincts and drive (back then, alone, as a 23-year-old woman in the United Arab Emirates), and seize the opportunity to achieve great things.

Of course, I chose the latter.

I took responsibility for making my department, and therefore the hotel, the operation and the staff, work with my team. I went online, found some pictures and did my best to share what I knew with all the employees.

Their appreciation, immediate understanding and hunger for more knowledge motivated me to help them even more and get into what is now known to me as "People Development and Training".

The closer the opening date came, the more people joined our team from all over the world and demonstrated various levels of experience and knowledge. Some knew the difference between lobster and prawns; some tried them before, some had no idea about the origin of the dish or the taste itself. In an ideal world, we would have asked the chefs to heat up their pans and fry up a few things to try – we did, however, have no gas to cook at that stage of the opening, and I was looking for other a ways to share our knowledge with the new joiners.

I went online, found a few pictures and did my best to share what I knew with the motivated crowd of future food runners, order takers and supervisors. Their appreciation, immediate understanding and the hunger for more knowledge motivated me to help them even more and get into what today is known to me as ‘’people development and training”.

I developed service processes and installed them to my team to perfection and brought different cultures together, trained and got constant feedback to see where we were and take further action to get this hotel ''up and running'' in a few weeks.

 It worked.

At that time, I acted intuitively.

Looking back, I analyzed my actions and thought, ''What actually happened, what did I do to bring the company to its success?''

I completed the group trainer award and got certified as a coach, and graduated as an MBTI® organizational developer.

I moved to Dubai and continued to build my knowledge and skills within the hospitality industry and then management consulting over another year.

The development of my skills allowed me to move into a role as a business consultant and global training experience as I continued my career in business development and strategy.

One day in 2015, on my way to a meeting, then as a management consultant and trainer, I was once again stuck in traffic and had a few moments to review my personal journey.

It was then that I suddenly realized that people needed something different today, something that was relevant to them personally and professionally and that added real value to their lives.

That internal wake-up call, in addition to personal reasons, changed everything for me. That day I took everything I had and started Servicexcellence, the development and consulting company.

 

This was the moment when all the pieces of the puzzle came together, the experience in customer service, leadership and people development, as well as the brand value and brand identity that Servicexcellence created for what it is today.

Today, in 2021, I have successfully opened Servicexcellence - Training & Development in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and Vienna, Austria and have had the opportunity to work with national and international companies around the world, positively impacting the lives of more than 10,000 people.

With the knowledge that I have subsequently tapped from my numerous trainings, I have transformed my intuitive approach into an applicable closed-loop system that today helps companies achieve peak performance.

And from this, Servicexcellence was born with a large network of experts and personalities.
